Echoes and Fragments brings together a selection of contemporary jewellery and object work by members of JMGA WA, exploring how memory, heritage and personal narrative are carried through material and form.
Each piece reflects a process of gathering of holding onto traces, impressions and experiences that shape identity over time. Fragments may appear as physical elements, layered surfaces or repeated motifs, while echoes emerge through the quiet persistence of ideas, histories and connections to place.
Working across a range of materials and techniques, the exhibiting artists translate these ideas into wearable and object-based forms. Some works draw on personal or cultural histories, others respond to the natural environment or the passage of time, but all share an interest in how meaning can be embedded within making.
Together, the exhibition offers a considered and intimate view of contemporary practice in Western Australia, where jewellery extends beyond adornment to become a vessel for memory, reflection and storytelling.
The exhibition also celebrates excellence in contemporary practice through a series of sponsored awards:
JMGA WA gratefully acknowledges the support of exhibition sponsors Australian Jewellers Supplies, Contemporary Metal, Desert Fire Designs, Mundaring Arts Centre, and Jewellery Training Solutions.
An independent panel of judges will select the awards:
